A swaggering, riff-driven glam-rock stomper, “Truck On (Tyke)” captures Marc Bolan in full late-’73 mode — funky, loose, and leaning into the heavier, groove-based direction that defined T. Rex’s post-peak evolution.

THE STORY Released on November 16, 1973 as a standalone single following “The Groover,” “Truck On (Tyke)” / “Sitting Here” marked another step in Marc Bolan’s shift toward a funkier, groove-oriented sound. The A-side delivers a gritty, swaggering glam-funk rocker with a muscular riff, while the B-side offers a more reflective contrast. The single entered the UK chart in late November, peaking at No.13 and spending 7 weeks on the chart.

CONTEXT & NOTES

This transitional single bridged the high-glam era with the denser, funk-leaning textures of the Tanx / Zinc Alloy period. UK variants include both push-out centre and solid centre pressings, usually housed in a standard T. Rex company sleeve. It remains a strong fan favourite from Bolan’s mid-1970s output.

International Issues Limited international details available beyond strong European distribution typical of the era.
