Gary Merrin recalls being fully prepared for a “guest” appearance — but nothing matched the eruption of screams when Marc Bolan walked onstage. The 2003 ELO 2 – First Light Series reissue brought the story full circle. The expanded edition included early takes, BBC sessions, and — crucially — tracks featuring Marc Bolan on twin lead guitar, formally acknowledging his role in the band’s studio history.
