Demon Music Group announced the discovery and release of "I'm Dazed", a previously unheard recording by Marc Bolan and T. Rex. The track emerged from a period of creative change between the Bolan's Zip Gun and Futuristic Dragon albums, capturing Bolan during a transitional phase in his musical development.

Musically, the recording bridges elements of the harder-edged sound associated with Bolan's Zip Gun while also anticipating the more soulful direction explored on Futuristic Dragon. The performance is notable for its strong R&B influence, particularly within Marc Bolan's vocal delivery.

The song's existence had apparently been unknown even among dedicated T. Rex collectors and researchers. Recently uncovered studio tapes revealed its history and led to its first official release.

RECORDING

Information discovered on studio tapes indicates that "I'm Dazed" was initially recorded at Château d’Hérouville near Paris during the early months of 1975.

A second version was subsequently recorded on April 22, 1975, at Musicland Studios in Munich. Marc Bolan produced the session, while Reinhold Mack handled engineering duties. The recording featured the classic mid-1970s T. Rex line-up consisting of Marc Bolan, Steve Currie, Gloria Jones, Davey Lutton and Dino Dines.

For its release, the original master tapes were newly mixed by Steven Wilson.

STYLE & THEMES

"I'm Dazed" reflects a period of artistic movement between two distinct phases of T. Rex's career. While retaining the rock foundations associated with Bolan's earlier work, the song also introduces a stronger soul and R&B flavour. The result is a recording that documents an important point of musical evolution within the band's mid-1970s output.

TRACK‑BY‑TRACK NOTES

• I'm Dazed — A previously unreleased T. Rex recording originating from 1975 sessions in France and Germany. Mixed from the original master tapes by Steven Wilson for its first official release.

• Billy Super Duper (Take 2) — A previously unreleased studio take of the Bolan rarity, unearthed alongside "I'm Dazed" and selected as the single's B-side.

RELEASE HISTORY

The two recordings were scheduled for digital release on September 30, 2025, coinciding with Marc Bolan's birthday.

A limited edition 7" vinyl single followed on November 7, 2025. The record was issued on cosmic yellow vinyl and carried the classic navy and red T. Rex label design.
