Track Records had planned to release “Jasper C. Debussy” as a maxi single on this date, but the release was withdrawn following court action by Marc. A few copies had already been sent to record shops and the music press, and two reviews were printed in 1972. (see belw)

The release did not materialize officilaay until June 7, 1974.

This special 7" featured three tracks and came in multiple striking sleeve variants, marking one of his final releases under the Marc Bolan name during the T. Rex era.

THE STORY

This maxi single revived older Bolan material under the pseudonym “Jasper C. Debussy”. The A-side is a re-worked track with a distinctive vocal style, while the B-side features two earlier recordings. The release was presented as a special “maxi single” with eye-catching sleeves.

CONTEXT & NOTES

Released during a transitional period for Bolan, the single did not chart highly but has become a collectible item due to its multiple sleeve variants and the “New Maxi” promotion. The tracks were originally from the unreleased or vault material associated with The Beginning of Doves.
