Live 1977 is a live archive release credited to Marc Bolan & T. Rex and issued by Edsel Records in June 1997. Released as a limited edition remastered double CD, the set compiles performances from Marc Bolan's final British tour appearances during March 1977 together with a bonus disc drawn from an earlier American performance recorded in Cleveland, Ohio during 1974.

The release brought together material from concerts at London's Rainbow Theatre, Portsmouth Locarno and the Agora Club in Cleveland. Issued with extensive packaging and liner notes, the collection documented T. Rex in concert during the final years of the band's career.

RECORDING

Disc One was recorded at the Rainbow Theatre, London on March 18, 1977 and at the Portsmouth Locarno on March 20, 1977.

Disc Two was recorded at the Agora Club, Cleveland, Ohio on November 11, 1974.

The release was mastered specifically for CD issue by Don Walker at Crossfade Mastering.

STYLE & THEMES

The collection captures the concert sound of the final T. Rex touring line-up, featuring performances of classic hits, contemporary material and fan favourites. The recordings span two distinct periods, presenting both the 1977 stage repertoire and selections from a 1974 American performance.

The set documents Marc Bolan's return to live performance during 1977 while preserving concert recordings from one of the final phases of his career.
