T. Rex (2016) – Bolan's Zip Gun Japanese Album Reissue: CD
Bolan's Zip Gun was reissued in Japan during 2016 by Imperial Records as part of a Japanese remastered reissue campaign covering the T. Rex catalogue. Originally released in 1975, the album captured Marc Bolan's continued exploration of groove-based rock, soul and pop influences during the mid-1970s.
This Japanese edition featured newly remastered audio and was issued in stereo format for the domestic market.
RECORDING
Produced by Marc Bolan, the album presents the original Bolan's Zip Gun studio recordings together with two bonus tracks.
The release retains the original album sequence while expanding the programme with the additional recordings "Satisfaction Pony" and "London Boys".
STYLE & THEMES
Unlike the classic glam-rock sound of T. Rex's earlier years, Bolan's Zip Gun reflects Marc Bolan's increasing interest in soul, rhythm-driven arrangements and contemporary pop influences.
The album combines funk-inspired grooves with melodic songwriting and remains one of the most distinctive albums of Bolan's mid-1970s output.
