T. Rex (2016) – T. Rex Album 45th Anniversary Album: CD RM
. Rex was reissued in 2016 by Rhino Records and Reprise Records as a newly remastered 45th Anniversary Edition of the band's 1970 album. Originally released as the first album under the shortened T. Rex name, it marked the important transition from the Tyrannosaurus Rex era into the electric sound that would soon lead to the group's commercial breakthrough.
This remastered edition was released in the United States and expanded the original album with two bonus tracks, "Ride A White Swan" and "Summertime Blues".
RECORDING
The album was recorded at Trident Studios and produced by Tony Visconti.
The recordings feature Marc Bolan and Mickey Finn, combining acoustic and electric textures that bridge the gap between the psychedelic folk sound of Tyrannosaurus Rex and the glam rock style that would soon define T. Rex.
The 2016 edition was newly remastered by Bill Inglot and Dan Hersch at D2 Mastering.
STYLE & THEMES
T. Rex combines folk rock and emerging glam rock influences, presenting mystical imagery, fantasy themes and melodic songwriting.
Tracks such as "Jewel", "Beltane Walk" and "One Inch Rock" demonstrate the increasingly accessible direction of Marc Bolan's writing, while longer pieces such as "The Wizard" retain links to the g
roup's earlier psychedelic style.
