T.Rex’s new single “Get It On” (backed with “There Was A Time” / “Raw Ramp”). This is the landmark single that would become T.Rex’s first UK Number One and a defining glam rock anthem, marking their breakthrough into massive mainstream success.

Visual & Design Elements

Historical Significance

Striking black-and-white photo collage featuring Marc Bolan (close-up and playing guitar), along with other band members and a live performance shot. The bold, stylish typography is typical of early 1970s rock advertising.

Released on July 2, 1971, “Get It On” propelled T.Rex into superstardom. The advert appeared in Melody Maker just as the single was hitting the shops, capturing the exact moment the band transitioned from underground cult favourites (Tyrannosaurus Rex) to glam rock superstars. This release is widely regarded as one of the pivotal records that launched the glam rock era.
