THE STORY

Released in June 1979, Solid Gold T.Rex is a 16-track compilation that collects many of Marc Bolan’s most successful singles and key album tracks from the band’s glam rock heyday. It was issued on both vinyl and cassette formats to reach a wide audience during the late 1970s.

CONTEXT & NOTES

This compilation helped maintain T. Rex’s visibility after their commercial peak. The striking cover shot of Bolan in a leopard-print suit became one of the most recognizable images of the band. Both the LP and cassette versions feature the same track listing, with the cassette (TC-NUT 5) being a common format for fans at the time.
