Dandy In The Underworld + Celebrate Summer was issued by Demon Records as a special archival release celebrating the final two T. Rex singles released during Marc Bolan's lifetime. Presented as a pair of 10-inch records housed in a gatefold sleeve, the collection revisits Dandy In The Underworld and Celebrate Summer while expanding upon the original single releases with alternate mixes and previously unreleased recordings.

Rather than simply reproducing the original singles, the release reimagines both records using alternate versions drawn from later archive research and remix projects. The result is a companion piece to the final T. Rex studio era, highlighting recordings associated with Marc Bolan's last creative period

RECORDING

The release combines original single versions with alternate mixes created in later years.

For Dandy In The Underworld, the original B-sides Groove A Little and Tame My Tiger appear in alternative forms, accompanied by a 2006 mix of the title track.

For Celebrate Summer, the original B-side Ride My Wheels was replaced with later recordings from 1977 that remained unreleased at the time. These include Hot George, 20th Century Baby and a monitor mix of Celebrate Summer.

STYLE & THEMES

The collection captures the final phase of Marc Bolan's recording career.

The material combines glam rock, pop and late-period T. Rex studio experimentation. The alternate mixes provide insight into the evolution of the recordings, while the inclusion of previously unreleased tracks broadens the picture of Bolan's final recording activities.
