THE STORY

Recorded between May and August 1968 at Trident Studios in London, this album expanded the duo’s sound following the success of their debut. Produced by Tony Visconti, it features Bolan’s poetic songwriting paired with Took’s wide array of percussion instruments. Released on November 1, 1968, it continued the band’s exploration of myth, magic, and whimsy in the British underground scene.

CONTEXT & NOTES

As the rapid follow-up to My People Were Fair…, the album reached UK #44. It marked continued growth in Bolan’s songcraft and the duo’s rising profile, coming shortly after signing with Blackhill Enterprises and amid Bolan’s relationship with June Child. No singles were taken from the album, though “One Inch Rock” (non-LP) was a contemporary hit.
