JEMI Label Special Collection was a Japanese promotional-only LP issued by EMI in 1974.

The album compiled recordings from a variety of artists associated with the EMI label and was intended as a promotional showcase of contemporary releases. The collection brought together established international artists alongside newer acts, presenting a cross-section of EMI's catalogue during 1974.

Featured artists included Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John, Darren Burn, Blue Swede, The Shadows, Marc Bolan And T. Rex, Geordie, Cockney Rebel, Carmen, Kayak and Be-Bop Deluxe.

RECORDING

The album consisted of previously released studio recordings by various artists.

No new material was recorded specifically for this compilation. Instead, the LP assembled tracks drawn from existing EMI releases current during 1974.

Because the release featured recordings by multiple artists, personnel and recording locations varied between tracks.

STYLE & THEMES

The collection reflects the diversity of EMI's roster during the mid-1970s.

Pop, rock, glam rock, progressive rock and contemporary chart material are represented throughout the compilation. The inclusion of artists such as Marc Bolan And T. Rex, Cockney Rebel, Geordie and Be-Bop Deluxe captures the growing popularity of glam and contemporary British rock during the period, while Cliff Richard and Olivia Newton-John provide a more mainstream pop presence.

As a promotional sampler, the album was designed to expose listeners to a variety of EMI artists rather than focus on a single musical style.
