This rare double-sided acetate preserves two recordings from Marc Bolan's productive post-Hippy Gumbo recording period. Featuring Jasmine '49 and Horrible Breath, the disc captures material recorded during the Simon Napier Bell sessions that helped shape Bolan's musical direction immediately before the emergence of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Unlike the commercial Hippy Gumbo single, these recordings remained unreleased at the time and survive through a small number of reference acetates prepared for

evaluation purposes.

RECORDING

Both tracks were produced by Simon Napier Bell.

Recording took place at De Lane Lea Studios, Kingsway, London.

The acetate itself was cut at the Radio Luxembourg Recording Studios in Mayfair, London.

The surviving disc is a double-sided acetate carrying handwritten track titles and artist identification on Radio Luxembourg Recording Studios labels.

STYLE & THEMES

Jasmine '49 and Horrible Breath belong to a fascinating transitional period in Marc Bolan's development as a songwriter.

The recordings demonstrate the imaginative lyrical themes and distinctive songwriting style that would soon become central to Tyrannosaurus Rex recordings.

As surviving acetate recordings, they provide a valuable snapshot of Bolan's creative output during 1966 and early 1967.
