T. Rex (April 23, 2022) – The Slider Album 50th Anniversary: LPPD
The Slider remains one of the defining releases in the T. Rex catalogue and one of the landmark albums of the glam rock era. Originally released during the height of "T. Rextasy", the album followed the success of Electric Warrior and further established Marc Bolan as one of the most influential British songwriters of the 1970s.
This National Album Day 2024 edition was issued as part of the annual celebration's "Great British Groups" theme and presented the classic album on red translucent vinyl.
The Slider was reissued on April 23, 2022, as a special 50th Anniversary Record Store Day edition. Released by Demon Records, this limited-edition picture disc celebrated fifty years of one of T. Rex's most acclaimed and commercially successful albums.
Originally issued in 1972, The Slider followed the breakthrough success of Electric Warrior and further cemented Marc Bolan's status as one of Britain's most influential rock performers.
RECORDING
Produced by Tony Visconti and written entirely by Marc Bolan, the album continued the creative partnership that had produced Electric Warrior.
The record expanded on T. Rex's glam rock formula, combining memorable hooks, driving rhythms and inventive arrangements while retaining Bolan's distinctive songwriting style.
