Tanx was originally released in 1973 and arrived following a sequence of Marc Bolan's most successful singles, including Children Of The Revolution, Solid Gold Easy Action and 20th Century Boy. The album represented a significant musical development for T. Rex and marked a period in which Bolan increasingly embraced new recording technology and studio experimentation.

Although the album explored fresh musical territory, several recordings still maintained a strong connection to the established T. Rex sound that had brought the group major commercial success. The album reached number four on the UK Albums Chart and has subsequently been recognised as an influential release by later generations of musicians.

This edition presents the complete album remastered by Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen and pressed on heavyweight 180g clear vinyl.

RECORDING

The album was created during a period when Marc Bolan and producer Tony Visconti were making greater use of an expanding range of studio equipment and production techniques.

For this reissue, the complete original album was remastered by Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen.

STYLE & THEMES

Tanx moved beyond the sound of earlier T. Rex releases while retaining elements of the group's established glam-rock style. The album incorporates broader production techniques and explores new musical directions while maintaining Bolan's distinctive songwriting approach.

The record is frequently regarded as one of the key transitional works in the T. Rex catalogue, bridging the classic glam-rock era and the more experimental directions that followed
