The Slider was originally released in July 1972 following a remarkable run of three chart-topping T. Rex albums. Arriving at the height of the phenomenon known as "T. Rextasy", the album captured Marc Bolan and T. Rex at the peak of their commercial and creative success.

The record provided a defining snapshot of the period and demonstrated the enduring appeal of T. Rex across generations. It included two UK number one singles, Telegram Sam and Metal Guru, and was the first album to carry the T. Rex Wax Co. imprint. The label was created under EMI's support of Marc Bolan's growing stature, reflecting his significance within the British music industry.

This edition presents the complete album newly remastered by Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen and pressed on 180g clear vinyl for the first time.

RECORDING

The album was recorded during T. Rex's most successful commercial period and features the classic T. Rex line-up alongside contributions from Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman.

For this reissue, the complete album was remastered by Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen.

TRACK-BY-TRACK NOTES

• Metal Guru — UK number one single and opening track.

• Mystic Lady — Featured on the original album.

• Rock On — Included on the original running order.

• The Slider — Title track of the album.

STYLE & THEMES

The Slider continued the glam-rock sound developed on earlier T. Rex releases while expanding the group's musical ambitions. The album combines infectious rock-and-roll rhythms, melodic songwriting and rich arrangements, resulting in one of the most recognisable releases of the glam-rock era.

Tracks such as Metal Guru, Telegram Sam, Ballrooms Of Mars and The Slider demonstrate Marc Bolan's ability to merge chart-friendly hooks with distinctive lyrical and musical ideas.

• Baby Boomerang — One of the key recordings from the album sessions.

• Spaceball Ricochet — A major album track and concert favourite.

• Buick MacKane — Included on the album's first side.

• Telegram Sam — UK number one single and one of T. Rex's signature recordings.

• Rabbit Fighter — Featured on the second side of the album.

• Baby Strange — One of the best-known tracks from the album.

• Ballrooms Of Mars — Among the album's most celebrated songs.

• Chariot Choogle — Included in the original sequence.

• Main Man — Closing track on the album.
