Released on June 3, 2023, this limited edition 7" picture disc formed the second instalment in Demon Records' T. Rex 1973 campaign. The release was issued alongside other archival projects celebrating the band's prolific 1973 period, including the Whatever Happened To The Teenage Dream? 5LP and 4CD box sets, as well as the Songwriter: 1973 LP.

As with the other singles in the series, the record was presented as a collector's picture disc featuring photography from the Keith Morris archive. The campaign revisited T. Rex's original 1973 singles and reintroduced them in a format aimed at collectors and long-time fans.

Originally issued in June 1973, "The Groover" became another significant chart success for Marc Bolan and T. Rex. The single remains one of the better-known releases from the period and demonstrated the band's continued popularity during the height of the glam rock era.
