Live 1977 is a live archive collection documenting some of the final concert performances by Marc Bolan and T. Rex. First released in 1997, the album compiles recordings from the band's March 1977 UK tour together with additional material drawn from an earlier American performance recorded in 1974.

The collection captures T. Rex during a remarkable late-career revival, showcasing the strength of the band's final live line-up and preserving performances from the closing months of Marc Bolan's career.

RECORDING

The primary recordings were taken from concerts at London's Rainbow Theatre on March 18, 1977, and Portsmouth Locarno on March 20, 1977.

Additional recordings originate from a concert at the Agora Club, Cleveland, Ohio, on November 11, 1974.

The collection presents a mixture of contemporary material, classic T. Rex favourites and extended live performances drawn from these historic concerts.

STYLE & THEMES

The performances capture T. Rex in a more powerful live setting than many earlier recordings, with a fuller rock-oriented sound driven by an accomplished touring band.

The set combines glam rock classics, material from Dandy In The Underworld, fan favourites and extended stage improvisations, reflecting the energy of the band's final tours.

TRACK-BY-TRACK NOTES

• Jeepster — Live version recorded during the 1977 tour.

• Visions Of Domino — Performance from the final touring period.
