  • T. Rex (April 22, 2022) – 1972 6LP Box Set

Following the huge commercial breakthrough of 1971, Marc Bolan entered 1972 at the height of his fame. The year became synonymous with "T. Rextasy", the term adopted by the press to describe the extraordinary public enthusiasm surrounding T. Rex. The group's popularity reached unprecedented levels as chart-topping singles, major tours, television appearances and high-profile projects kept Bolan at the centre of British popular culture. This six-LP collection was created to celebrate that remarkable year. Rather than focusing on a single album, the box set assembles the recordings, broadcasts and performances that defined T. Rex during 1972. The intention is to place listeners in the position of a fan experiencing the year as it unfolded, bringing together studio recordings, hit singles, live performances, radio sessions, soundtrack material and rare broadcasts. The collection documents a period that began with the launch of Marc Bolan's own T. Rex Wax Co. label and the release of the number one single Telegram Sam. It follows T. Rex through two sold-out concerts at Wembley Empire Pool, the creation of the Born To Boogie film directed by Ringo Starr, the release of Metal Guru and The Slider, extensive US touring, radio appearances and BBC sessions, before concluding with Children Of The Revolution, Solid Gold Easy Action and the T. Rex Fan Club Christmas flexi disc. RECORDING The box set gathers recordings made throughout 1972 and includes material drawn from multiple sources. These include The Slider studio album, performances from Wembley Empire Pool, the complete Born To Boogie soundtrack, Marc Bolan's American radio sessions, BBC recordings from 1972 and a collection of B-sides, bonus recordings and the T. Rex Fan Club Christmas flexi disc. Several recordings included in the set were previously unreleased, including alternate Wembley mixes with 1972 overdubs and the rare Christmas edition performance of Telegram Sam from Top Of The Pops. STYLE & THEMES The collection captures T. Rex during the peak of their glam-rock period while also revealing the breadth of Marc Bolan's musical interests. Alongside chart hits and album tracks are live performances, acoustic sessions, spoken-word contributions, soundtrack material and radio recordings. These demonstrate Bolan's ability to move between hard-driving glam rock, acoustic songwriting, cinematic arrangements and experimental studio material. The set provides a broad portrait of Marc Bolan as performer, songwriter and cultural figure during one of the most significant years of his career. TRACK-BY-TRACK NOTES • The Slider — Represents the classic 1972 T. Rex studio album. • Live At Wembley: The Matinee Show — Captures one of the band's celebrated Wembley Empire Pool performances. • Born To Boogie Soundtrack — Presented in full for the first time, featuring contributions from Marc Bolan, T. Rex, Elton John, Ringo Starr, Mickey Finn and Geoffrey Bayldon. • 1972 US Radio Sessions — Solo and intimate recordings produced during T. Rex's American tours. • T. 1972 was released by Demon Records as a retrospective collection celebrating one of the most extraordinary years in Marc Bolan's career. Following T. Rex's rise to stardom during 1971, the following year saw Bolan achieve the peak of what became known in the British press as "T. Rextasy", a period when the group dominated the music scene through hit records, major tours, television appearances and constant media attention. Rex fan living through that remarkable year, the collection combines chart hits, album tracks, live recordings, soundtrack material and rarities. Fifty years after Bolan's commercial peak, the compilation presents both the public phenomenon and the artistic depth behind it, moving between rock anthems, reflective ballads and previously less-heard recordings. • T. Rex – (September 18, 2020) Zinc Alloy And The Hidden Riders Of Tomorrow: 1921 Series (2LP "Zinc Alloy" Vinyl) HMV Exclusive

Zinc Alloy And The Hidden Riders Of Tomorrow was reissued by Demon Records as an HMV-exclusive double LP edition pressed on specially created "Zinc Alloy" silver-coloured vinyl. The release revisits Marc Bolan and T. Rex's 1974 studio album, presenting the complete remastered album alongside a second disc devoted to contemporary non-album singles and B-sides. The album marked a significant stylistic shift for Bolan. While touring the United States during 1973, he became increasingly influenced by the soul and funk music broadcast on black radio stations. Returning to the studio, he incorporated these influences into a new body of work that moved beyond the familiar glam-rock formula of earlier T. Rex releases. The resulting album blended soul, funk and glam influences into a distinctive collection of recordings that included highlights such as Venus Loon, Explosive Mouth and the hit single Teenage Dream. Though sometimes overlooked in comparison to earlier T. Rex classics, the album has become increasingly recognised as an ambitious and adventurous period in Bolan's recording career. This exclusive edition expands the original album by including a second disc dedicated to non-album recordings from the period, including the UK Top 10 hit The Groover. RECORDING The original album was created following Marc Bolan's return from touring the United States in 1973. Inspired by the soul and funk music he encountered while travelling, Bolan developed material that incorporated stronger rhythm-and-blues influences alongside the established T. Rex sound. For this edition, LP1 contains the complete studio album remastered by Ted Jensen and original co-producer Tony Visconti. LP2 gathers contemporary standalone singles and B-sides associated with the album period. STYLE & THEMES The album reflects Bolan's growing fascination with American soul and funk music. Although elements of glam rock remain throughout the album, the material also introduces more prominent rhythmic grooves, richer arrangements and a broader sonic palette. Songs such as Venus Loon, Teenage Dream and Explosive Mouth demonstrate this expanded musical approach. The collection captures a period when Bolan was actively experimenting with new influences while maintaining the distinctive songwriting style that defined T. Rex TRACK-BY-TRACK NOTES • Venus Loon — Opening track of the original album. • Sound Pit — Featured on the original studio album. • Explosive Mouth — One of the album's highlighted recordings. • Galaxy — Included on the original release. • Change — Studio recording from the album sessions. • Nameless Wildness — Included within the original running order. • Teenage Dream — Hit single and one of the album's best-known recordings. • Liquid Gang — Featured on the second side of the original album. • Carsmile Smith & The Old One — Included in the original sequence. • You've Got To Jive To Stay Alive – Spanish Midnight — Album recording reflecting broader musical influences. • Interstellar Soul — Studio recording from the original release. • Painless Persuasion V. • T. Rex (February 7, 2020) – Dandy In The Underworld 180g Clear Vinyl

This edition presents the final official Marc Bolan and T. Rex studio album on 180g clear vinyl. Originally released on March 11, 1977, Dandy In The Underworld was conceived during a turbulent period in British rock music. The album appeared shortly after the emergence of punk rock through the release of The Damned's New Rose and the Sex Pistols' Anarchy In The U.K., recordings that helped establish a new musical movement. To promote the album, Marc Bolan embarked on a tour of the United Kingdom and Europe. The Damned supported several concerts and openly acknowledged T. Rex as a major influence. By the time the album appeared, Bolan had already achieved a UK hit with I Love To Boogie. Additional singles taken from the album included Dandy In The Underworld, The Soul Of My Suit and Crimson Moon. The period concluded with Celebrate Summer, which became the final single released during Bolan's lifetime. Demon Records subsequently reissued the complete album on clear 180g vinyl, making it the first time the record had been available in this format. RECORDING The album was created using a revised T. Rex line-up during the latter stages of Marc Bolan's career. Rex throughout the decade. The album combines rock, pop and glam influences and includes some of Bolan's best-known late-period recordings, including I Love To Boogie, Crimson Moon and The Soul Of My Suit. • Universe — Features additional vocals from Colin Jacas. • I'm A Fool For You, Girl — Features contributions from Scott Edwards, Paul Humphrey, Steve Gregory and J. • T. Rex (February 7, 2020) – Zinc Alloy And The Hidden Riders Of Tomorrow 180g Clear Vinyl

Zinc Alloy And The Hidden Riders Of Tomorrow was originally released in 1974 and represented a significant stage in the continuing evolution of Marc Bolan and T. Rex. The album followed the hit singles The Groover and Truck On (Tyke) and included the subsequent hit Teenage Dream. The recordings reflected the impact of Bolan's travels in the United States during 1973, where exposure to black radio stations introduced him to a broader range of soul and rhythm-and-blues influences. These influences became an important component of the album's sound, helping to shape a record that differed noticeably from earlier T. Rex releases. Over time, the album has become regarded as an overlooked treasure within the T. Rex catalogue, showcasing Bolan's willingness to experiment while continuing to develop his songwriting and production style. This edition presents the complete album remastered by original co-producer Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen and pressed on 180g clear vinyl for the first time. RECORDING The album was created following Marc Bolan's experiences touring the United States during 1973. Influences absorbed from American soul and R&B radio broadcasts informed the direction of the material and contributed to a broader musical approach than that heard on previous T. Rex releases. For this reissue, the complete album was remastered by Tony Visconti and Ted Jensen. STYLE & THEMES The album blends glam rock and pop-rock with strong soul and R&B influences. While maintaining many of the characteristics associated with T. Rex, the recordings also demonstrate a growing interest in rhythm-driven arrangements, expanded vocal textures and more adventurous production techniques. Tracks such as Teenage Dream, Venus Loon and Explosive Mouth illustrate this broader musical outlook, while the album as a whole captures a period of experimentation and artistic development. The release formed part of the label's ongoing programme of T. Rex archive projects, focusing on rare, alternate and previously difficult-to-obtain recordings from Marc Bolan's catalogue. The release was issued in two collectible formats. A picture disc edition was released on October 4, 2019, followed by a blue vinyl edition on November 28, 2019. Both versions were limited to 500 copies and were produced in support of the Light Of Love Foundation, making the single both an archival release and a charity fundraising project. Pairing a live broadcast performance of "20th Century Boy" with an alternate version of "Midnight", the single offered listeners a different perspective on two recordings associated with T. Rex's classic early-1970s creative peak. RECORDING Both tracks originate from sessions and performances associated with the Electric Warrior era. The A-side presents a live broadcast version of "20th Century Boy", capturing the energy and immediacy of T. Rex in a live setting rather than the familiar studio single master. The B-side features an alternate version of "Midnight", offering a glimpse into the development and recording process behind one of Marc Bolan's lesser-discussed compositions from the period. STYLE & THEMES The release highlights two different sides of T. Rex's work during their commercial peak. "20th Century Boy" showcases the group's glam-rock power and stage presence, while "Midnight" provides a more atmospheric and exploratory counterpart through its alternate presentation. Together, the recordings demonstrate the breadth of material produced by Marc Bolan during the era that established T. Rex as one of the defining acts of British glam rock. TRACK-BY-TRACK NOTES • 20th Century Boy (Live Broadcast Version) — Rare live performance capturing the power and spontaneity of one of T. Rex's most celebrated recordings. • Midnight (Alternate Version) — Alternate take presenting a different perspective on the original recording and offering insight into Bolan's creative process. RELEASE HISTORY The picture disc edition was released in the United Kingdom on October 4, 2019. A second pressing on blue vinyl followed on November 28, 2019. Both editions were limited to 500 copies and were issued by Easy Action Records as part of the label's ongoing archival preservation programme devoted to the T. Rex catalogue. The release also supported the Light Of Love Foundation, adding a charitable dimension to what was already a highly collectible issue.
